Andorra Prepares
With the qualifying stages of football’s World Cup just months away, and the Andorra v England match set to be played in September, good news for Andorra football.
Unfortunately it’s not that England have forfeited the game, but the up and coming Andorra players plus the existing national team do have a brand new facility:

Andorra Get England – Again!
Andorra’s route to the 2010 football World Cup Finals in South Africa has
been set, with the draw having taken place for the qualifying rounds.
Included in Andorra’s group are Croatia, Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan,
plus England who Andorra gave a scare to for the first 45 minutes of the home
fixture in the recent Euro 2008 qualifiers.
When Andorra went in at half-time drawing 0-0 back in March it was as much
a surprise for Andorra as it was for England, and marked the the beginning of
the end for former England manager Steve McClaren (England went on to win the
game 3-0).
England are currently ranked by FIFA as 12th in the world, just above Andorra
who are 174th.
Andorra’s football supporters are taking the prospects of reaching the
World Cup Finals with a touch of caution, with no travel agents in the capital
Andorra la Vella reporting any bookings for the 2008 finals in South Africa
quite yet…

Andorra has just had a good fall of snow in the ski resorts of Soldeu, Pas de
la Casa, Arinsal and Ordino. The Andorra ski holiday and hotels industry is preparing
for what will hopefully be a good year for skiing.

An airport for Andorra has come a step closer with the announcement on Friday
that the Catalan Government has bought the land at Seu d'Urgell to develop
an airport, for 8 million Euros.
Andorra will pay for the building of the airport, just ten minutes from the
Andorra border.
With the opening due in 3-4 years, this will impact property prices and encourage
more ski holiday visitors.
Andorra 0 - England 3
0-0 at half time, and Andorra's part-time football team had successfully
contained an England team full of premiership players in the Euro 2008 qualifier.
Unfortunately the game had another 45 minutes to run and England, who had been
jeered off by their own supporters and a chorus of 'Are you Liechtenstein
in disguise?' from the Andorra supporters emerged in the second half
with a different attitude.
Two goals from Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and a third by substitute David
Nugent, with a yellow card somewhere between for the ineffectual Wayne Rooney
put paid to any hopes of a spectacular draw for Andorra, and it was just enough
to keep England's coach Steve McClaren in his job - for the moment at least.
