Austria Ski Holidays

The good thing about ski holidays in Austria, is that no matter what level of experience you have, there are resorts and pistes to suit all.

Austria is a favourite for people who like skiing off piste too.

Austria ski holiday slopes with long wide curves offer a great learning experience for beginners. More difficult routes allow the more experienced to glide down steep hillsides, leaving a trail of white powdery snow behind them. Deep snow and wild slopes even feed the extreme ski requirement for more action. As always, it's very important to understand your abilities before hitting the slopes - instructors are available at nearly all Austria ski holiday resorts.

Some of the Austria ski holiday resorts are open for glacier skiing year-round. Eight ski areas are open all year for winter sports enthusiasts. The Austria skiing holiday resorts are well equipped with a variety of vehicles to help maintain pistes and slopes. Environmentally friendly snow machines are available to give nature a hand in creating and maintaining a perfect level of snow. Resorts offer ski holiday in Austria ski equipment rentals such as skis, snowboards, short boards and snow bikes.

The Ziller Valley, or commonly called Zillertal, is one of the most popular skiing Austria areas and home to several hotels, resorts and other Austria skiing holidays accommodation. With more than 10 resorts in the valley, the perfect accommodations are definitely within reach! Hintertux Glacier and Mayrhofen are two of the most well-known resorts in the area. Some other Austria skiing holiday resorts in the Ziller Valley include Zell am Ziller, Fugen and Finkenberg. Each has a variety of special accommodation available.

The Zillertal Austria ski area offers up 430 kilometers of pistes to enjoy. Neighbouring Hintertux Glacier includes another 86 kilometers for skiers of all difficulty levels. The ultimate adventure for skiers is the famous Hara Kiri. Hara Kiri is set at a treacherous 78 percent gradient. The Ziller Valley night life is packed full of bars, clubs and pubs and is nearly as exciting as the day time sport.

Fanning out from the top of Wiedersbergerhorn is the Alpbach ski holidays Austria area. Alpbach covers 45 kilometers of intermediate level ski terrain. Nineteen lifts service the area along with the super cable car from the Reitherkogel area. The super cable car is often called the "family jet" and, as the name implies, is a great area for families to ski together. Alpbach's night life is not non-existent, but it isn't quite as flaunted as other Austria ski holidays areas tend to be. The Kitzbuheler Alpen Ski Pass includes passes to the Alpbach Valley, Wildschonau, Kitzbuhel, Ski World Wilder Kaiser and Schneewinkel. This pass grants access to 260 lifts and about 680 kilometers of beautifully Austria skiing holiday groomed pistes.

The two smaller ski areas of Solden and Hochsolden, along with Zwieselstein and Vent make up the Otztal Ski Arena. One all inclusive skiing Austria pass envelopes all four areas and provides access to a multitude of slopes and other areas. Hochsolden offers the convenience of "ski in, ski out" that is cherished by many. The Otztal Arena offers year-round Austria skiing holidays in several areas and the excitement of glacier skiing. Year-round skiing and the lure of Solden's night life are very tempting and exciting to many ski holiday in Austria visitors each year.
